Une exposition exceptionnelle en France, consacrée au mouvement de la peinture à l’aquarelle du désert du centre de l’Australie, lancé dans les années 1930 par l’un des plus grands artistes australiens, Albert Namatjira (1902-1959).
Depuis les paysages vallonnés et colorés de l’ouest des Monts MacDonnell, situés au cœur des terres Arrernte au centre de l’Australie, jusqu’à Paris, l’exposition Tjuritja Nana Mara to Paris présente une remarquable sélection d’œuvres réalisées par les artistes descendants d’Albert Namatjira. 

Richement illustré et comprenant les textes des conservateurs et écrivains de renom Hetti Perkins et Georges Petitjean, le catalogue présente les œuvres, les artistes et l'histoire du mouvement, ainsi que la campagne de longue haleine de la famille Namatjira pour récupérer les droits d’auteur sur les œuvres de leur grand-père.

An unprecedented exhibition in France, devoted to the Central Desert watercolour movement established in the 1930s by one of Australia’s most prominent artists, Albert Namatjira (1902-1959). From the colourful hills of West MacDonell Ranges in Arrernte country in Central Australia to Paris, the exhibition Tjuritja Nana Mara to Paris brings together an outstanding selection of artworks by Namatjira’s artists descendants.

Richly illustrated and including texts by renown curators and writers Hetti Perkins and Georges Petitjean, the catalogue presents the artworks, artists and history of the movement as well as Namatjira family’s long-term campaign to regain the copyright on their grandfathers’ artworks.
